How do we communicate when we want to speak of culture?

Catarina Medina, Helena César, Inês Lampreia, Maria Vlachou, Marta Santos and Rita Tomás have been working in communication, in cultural structures, for several years. With diverse academic backgrounds and professional experiences, they have worked in the field of visual and performing arts, music, cinema and museums. They have hosted the Rehearsal Room, a meeting of cultural communication professionals with irregular periodicity, in which informality is the key to debate and sharing.

The increasingly generalized access to information benefits us, but also brings us new challenges, from how to manage a multiplicity of platforms and existing channels, to how  to guarantee that culture has a place in channels which favor more combustible topics. Using the Long Table tool, by artist Lois Weaver, a group of cultural communications professionals sits at a table and throws out questions to whoever wishes to debate, the artistic community and the public: how do we communicate when we want to speak of culture? What strategies and ideas can we set in motion to draw attention to cultural and artistic projects? How can we value the place of communications within the heart of cultural structures?
